From Frannie DeFranco:
I am currently working part time in center city while going to school
full time. I have class from 11 to 9 on Tuesdays and Thursdays and I
have a night class from 7 to 10 on Wednesdays. I work from 8:30 to 5 on
Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays and I often don’t think I have time to
live my own life.
Most college students take for granted the time they have to complete
their homework assignments. Before I was hired to work three days a
week I would use Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays as days to get my
papers and assignments done and then the weekend would be time for fun.
Now I end up staying up late almost every night and doing homework on
the weekends.
It’s tough. But in the end I think it’s worth it. When we come out of
school with real work experience and hopefully good grades we will
really be able to be proud of ourselves. This is the time in our lives
to seize all of our opportunities and use every hour of the day to do
something fun and new. I think balance is key and it’s always important
to remind yourself of how old you really are.
Also, in my case.. I know that I have the highest expectations of
myself and that not everyone expects all of this from me. So I do my
best and work my hardest and that would be the advice I would give to
anyone I met who was trying to manage working and going to school at
the same time! Keep life balanced. Learn in school. Experience all you
can at work. Always have fun.
